Consolidated net profit of the company fell 22.7 percent year-on-year to Rs 63.4 crore in the quarter while even adjusted profit after tax was down by 7.4 percent.
In the December quarter of previous financial year 2011-12, the company had incurred a foreign exchange gain of Rs 13.54 crore on its FCCBs.
Consolidated total income rose by 2.6 percent to Rs 1,131 crore in the third quarter of current financial year 2012-13 from Rs 1,161 crore in a year ago period.
Analysts on an average were expecting net profit of Rs 76 crore and total income of Rs 1,184 crore for the quarter.
At 13:50 hours IST, the stock declined 2.9 percent to Rs 67 amid increased volumes on Bombay Stock Exchange.
