Sudarshan Sukhani of s2analytics.com told CNBC-TV18, "I would recommend ICICI Bank and State Bank of India (SBI) for short selling. Both are not midcap banks but the theme is that one can actually select any bank and go short in it, have little patience and make some money."

At 14:24 hrs State Bank of India was quoting at Rs 1,690, down Rs 26.10, or 1.52 percent. It has touched an intraday high of Rs 1,721.50 and an intraday low of Rs 1,685.45.

The share touched its 52-week high Rs 2,550 and 52-week low Rs 1,452.90 on 10 January, 2013 and 28 August, 2013, respectively. Currently, it is trading 33.73 percent below its 52-week high and 16.32 percent above its 52-week low. Market capitalisation stands at Rs 115,601.74 crore.
