"In his maiden budget, the FM has sought to address some of the challenges and bottlenecks in the marketing of agricultural produce. While he has announced measures on the inputs side with irrigation & fertilisers, seed development and biotechnology on one end, he has importantly recognized the need for a smoother post-harvest and marketing channel for the farmers which will help increase farmer realisation.  

The vision of a national market which will bring competitiveness, enhancing agricultural credit, thrust on scientific warehousing infrastructure, modernizing market yards all clearly show the positive intent and commitment of the government which will directly benefit the farmers and the economy. Efforts to remove inefficiencies and anomalies in the underlying physical market is a big positive for the futures market."
