Punj Lloyd up as arm bids for MacMahon' Construction Unit

Shares of Punj Lloyd were trading higher on Thursday as its subsidiary Sembawang Australia said they bid for MacMahon Holdings' construction unit.

Sembawang Engineers and Constructors Pte Ltd has kicked off the new year with a proposal to acquire the construction businesses of MacMahon Holdings Ltd, a Australian contract mining and construction company.

The two-part offer is being made by the company. The first offer is to purchase MacMahon's construction businesses as going concerns or as a separate stand alone offer; the second part is a counter proposal to the Asset Purchase Agreement made by Leighton Holdings, on identical terms, for an additional consideration of AUD 5 million.

At 14:13 hours IST, Punj Lloyd gained 0.33 percent to Rs 61.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
